These thin, red vessels that commonly appear on the cheeks, chin and nose are not truly veins, but rather dilated capillaries. This condition (red vessels on the surface of the skin) is called telangiectasias and can be treated by the staff of Infinity Skin Care with a treatment called IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) therapy.

IPL Photorejuvenation has been in use at Infinity Skin Care and Spa since 2003 and is hands down the most versatile instrument for skin rejuvenation available! You can get rid of wrinkles and creases with Botox and filler but if your complexion is full of red vessels you will give away your age. IPL photorejuvenation can be used on any part of the body and is extremely popular for the face, neck, chest, forearms and hands. A series of 3-4 treatments is needed for best results.

How Does IPL (Intense Pulsed Light Therapy) work?

The IPL handpiece uses filtered light to target blood vessels and pigmented lesions. Each band of the spectrum has a wavelength that is ideal for different treatments, such as sun spot removal and vessel clearance. IPL emits pulses of light into the skin. The light is absorbed by the pigment in sun spots and the blood in visible vessels, which typically fade from view within two weeks.

How is IPL different from a laser?

Intense Pulsed Light treatments emit light with a range of wavelengths, allowing treatment of more than one type or color of skin problem. This versatility allows for more cost effective treatments.

What should I expect after treatment?

Immediately after treatment, you can expect a mild sunburn-like sensation, possibly accompanied by some minor swelling. This usually lasts 2-24 hours, and can be soothed with cold gel or ice packs.

Patients with facial vessels and rosacea can all benefit from less pronounced redness within just one week of treatment.
